Crane, Elkinton still riding strong
Toughest Cowboy competitors Clovis Crane and Dusty Elkinton have been staying busy over the last couple weeks picking up all-around titles at their respective PRCA circuit rodeos.
Crane of Lebanon, Pa., recently captured the all-around title at the Allegheny Mountain Championship Rodeo in Kellettville, Pa. Crane finished second in the average in the bareback riding with a two head total of 154 points, was second in the saddle bronc riding with a score of 73 points and won the bull riding with 154 points on two head. Crane was the only bull rider to last the required eight seconds on both bulls. He won the first round with a score of 80 points on J Bar J Ranch’s Snake Eyes. All totaled Crane won $3,779.
Crane also placed in all three roughstock events at the Painted Pony Championship Rodeo in Lake Luzerne, N.Y., during the July 23-25 event. He was second in the bareback riding, won the saddle bronc riding with a 79-point ride on Painted Pony’s Jim Bob and was second in the bull riding with a score of 79 points.
Elkinton of Moundville, Mo., captured the all-around title at the Wahoo (Neb.) Saddle Club PRCA Rodeo after finishing fourth in the bareback riding with a score of 72 points and winning the bull riding with an 84-point ride on Mid-State Rodeo’s Cool Cat. He also competed in the saddle bronc riding but didn’t place in the money.
